A Reasonwhy Nobody Over 35 Should Consider Lasik Surgery

If you are nearsighted and approaching your mid thirties and considering Lasik, please read this. I did not listen to the warnings and now I am forever attached to my reading glasses. (which I fortunately happen to love the style) at the same time reduce my near vision. I was a couple years away from presbyopia and mildly myopic, Lasik surgery gave me about 3 years of good vision and now I am mildly farsighted and need reading glasses.

Apparently if I never had Lasik this would not be the case. As a previously happy contact lens wearer, it would have been extremely simple for me to switch from my previous lenses to multivision contact lenses. However, since surgery has altered the shape of my corneas soft contact lenses do not correct my vision as well.

I suppose it is a lesson learned and the the benefit is that I have located some exciting reading glasses that solve my visual demands. The only thought that runs through my head is, if I did not have Lasik surgery, then I would still wear contact lenses but would not be so reliant on my readers.

And when I was myopic, I could easily read comfortably and clearly with no contact lenses. So reading a book or magazine in bed was always clear. Now I need glasses to clip my nails!

Overall I think Lasik is a wonderful procedure for those who understand what it does. I would absolutely love it if I had it done when I was twenty-two, all I am saying is that waiting until you are approaching presbyopia and mildly nearsighted is a mistake.

Ask your doctor about an honest opinion. And if you have are looking for the latest in multifocal contacts ask about synergyes.

This latest version of the synergyes hybrid contact lens is only available to people who have mostly regular corneas, and a an eyeglasses Rx of +4.00 to -4.00 with minimal astigmatism. As with any lens, each candidate must be evaluated on a case per case basis. If you are outside of those parameters, don’t despair. Their are plenty of other successful multifocal lens designs out there. The best of luck with your eyes and your vision.
